Movie Review: Lesbian Space Princess

This is a title that promises something wild but instead delivers an oddly restrained, almost charmingly awkward little sci-fi romp. Think Barbarella meets Fleabag but with fewer quips and slightly more longing stares into distant galaxies.

On paper, it’s bonkers; royal intrigue, love across space-time, and retro-futurist camp, but somewhere in its solar system of ideas, it veers into something unexpectedly sincere. There’s no denying its ambition, even if the budget occasionally shows or the pacing drags like a jetpack low on fuel. The heart? It’s all there. The politics of love and power? Cheekily threaded through every royal decree.

It won’t be for everyone, too slow for cult chaos, too quirky for mainstream appeal, but that’s part of its charm. A late-night watch with a glass of something strong might just be the ideal way to experience it.

Cheers to the sheer audacity of trying to make queer princess space melodrama a thing.

  1. […] Lesbian Space Princess – Camp. Chaos. Cosmic queerness. Berlinale is known for giving screens to voices often sidelined, and this one felt like a love letter to outsiders everywhere.Full review: moey.blog/lesbian-space-princess […]
